There is the can of tomato paste
I searched for in vain last week.
I bought another;
now there are two.
And speaking of two,
there are chow mein noodles
and three bags of popcorn
which I never pop, except
when I make caramel corn:
not often.
Four jars of unusual preserves:
hot pepper raspberry? pear?
unidentified yellow-brownish something?
Five half-empty bags of croutons,
the remains of Caesars past.
Six expired Jell-o packets
and myriad stale crackers:
a veritable Twelve Days of Pantry,
and I hum along.
There's bound to be a partridge in here.
I have the pear preserves.
